Motorized screens help to meet the health code at a busy Boston restaurant

Provide shade from the sun and keep the bugs out - with Executive motorized retractable screens

Application Highlights

The architect and owners of this popular eatery wanted to keep the doors of the restaurant open to maintain the connection to Boston’s Boylston Street location and Fenway Park. As the health code required the restaurant to have a barrier separating the interior from the exterior, they needed a solution that would keep the dust and debris from entering the eating area when the doors are open.

They selected Phantom’s motorized retractable screens with Mermet E-Screen 7510 with 10% openness to limit the amount of debris entering the space when the screens are lowered; the dark color of the mesh transmits less light, improving transparency and maintaining visibility during daylight hours.

Maintain the design

The recessed screens retract completely out of sight at the touch of a button, thereby preserving the unobstructed exterior views of the folding wall system. Recessing the screens also enables the owners to ensure that the screens are fully protected from the elements when closing for the day or during inclement weather.

“One of the main reasons for specifying the motorized retractable screens was the option of choosing screens that let us cover the 22 foot openings.”
